Gomez Cruzado operates out of their 135 year old cellar (founded 1886) in the Station District, in Haro, the historic heart of Rioja.
The bodega focuses on sustainably farmed old vine plots and indigenous varieties.
This is a blend of 75% Viura and 25% tempranillo blanco from a single high altitude plot in Haro, on stony alluvial/limestone soils.
This us ed about 50% stems in the pressing, was native fermented in stainless before a part rests 5 months in French oak on lees, with the rest aging in concrete.
There’s a lovely purity on this medium+bodied white, with creamy lees bedding Anjou pear, subtle quince, crystalline lemon, and fine spie, imbued with a limestone brightness.
